This Saturday, the Greenville Jaycees will be hosting the ninth annual Kids Classic golf tournament at Cambrian Ridge.
&uot;All the money raised goes to Butler County foster children - every dime we earn,&uot; said Jaycees president and tournament coordinator William Martin.
&uot;We’re expecting around 60-65 people at the most, but probably more like 50,&uot; Martin said. &uot;Last year we had 41 players.&uot;
Martin also said that each year the tournament gets larger.
&uot;Every year it grows a little with an extra team or an extra sponsor,&uot; he said.
Of the money raised for the Department of Human Resources, the majority goes toward a Christmas party for the foster children.
&uot;We’ll have one of our guys come in dressed as Santa and pass out presents,&uot; Martin said. &uot;Some other time throughout the year, we’ll spend money on stuff the children need through DHR.&uot;
The entrance fee for the three-man scramble is $80 per person, and a hole sponsorship is $100.
However, Martin said there is a discount available.
A team can register all three members and get a hole sponsorship for $300.
The deadline for sponsorships is Friday.
&uot;That’s also the deadline for people to register to play,&uot; Martin said.
The tournament will get underway with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, following 8 a.m. registration.
