cancer-stricken families

An “awesome event” is slated for Andalusia this weekend.
The event, “Cookies with Character,” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 24 at the Andalusia Kiwanis Building.
The event is a fundraiser for “Meredith's Miracles,” which helps families of cancer-stricken children with their expenses.
It is named in honor of a three-year-old Andalusia child, Meredith, who died from a lung tumor.
“Meredith's mom is having this event and it's going to be awesome,” Ashley Norman of Greenville said.
“The cookies are made by Sister Shubert's daughter, Chrissie Shubert, and are yummy!”
The children will be able to enjoy all the cookies they want and visit with an assortment of favorite characters, including Dora the Explorer, Spider Man, Shrek, Cinderella, Snow White, the real Aubie, Mickey Mouse, Cookie Monster, Scooby-Doo, Batman, Donal Duck, Winnie the Pooh and Power Rangers.
There will also be a raffle, just $1 per ticket, to have a dinner for a family of four with their favorite character.
Tickets for the event are just $5 per person.
“I am happy to be able to spread the word. This is going to be a fun event for such a good cause,” Norman said.
