Fort Dale Academy Lady Eagles Jennifer and Morgan Pouncey have been chosen to play in the AISA All-Star basketball game that will take place Friday at Huntingdon College at 6 p.m.
Fort Dale head coach Reggie Mantooth has coached many good players during his career as the Lady Eagles' coach, but Mantooth said the Pouncey's have been extra special.
“They both set an example of working hard and they came ready to practice everyday,” Mantooth said. “And being sisters, they play well together.”
Jennifer, who led the Eagles in scoring and steals, was a vital part of the Eagles Final Four run this season.
“(Jennifer) really had a great year offensively for us and she is very deserving of being chosen to play in the All-Star game,” Mantooth said.
Morgan, who was second in scoring and rebounds for the Lady Eagles, was also a huge part of Fort Dale's success.
“(Morgan) did everything we asked of her this season,” Mantooth said. “She is one of the best leaders on our team and she had a great year.”
Together, the Pouncey's laid a foundation for the Eagles for years to come.
“They were a big part of our success, especially with their experience and their ability to score at anytime,” Mantooth said of the sisters.
