The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming June 6 primary is quickly approaching. Those who don't want to be left out when it's time to go to polls should register by Friday, May 26 at the Butler County Courthouse.
Beeland Stead, of the Butler County Board of Registrars, said her office has seen a steady flow of people coming in to register and expects numbers to increase as the deadline date approaches.
Registration only takes a few moments, said Stead, and the paperwork can be completed at the courthouse.
Those with Internet access can print the forms off from the Secretary of State's website, www.sos.state.al.us., complete the forms, and mail them to: Butler County, P.O. Box 756, Greenville, AL 36037.
Stead reminded registered voters to take proper identification with them on June 6 when they go to their respective voting precinct.
“If they need to know which polling place to go to they can call us at 382-5685,” said Stead.
Stead said there are currently over 13,400 registered voters in Butler County out of a population of over 21,000.
If your name has changed recently, or you just moved into the county you should also re-register.
