Panthers awaiting make-up date with Bayside Academy

While most of the schools affected by Hurricane Katrina have either played or have scheduled their makeup game, Georgiana's rescheduling of its region game at Bayside Academy is still in limbo.
As of right now, the Panthers are scheduled to face the Admirals at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 in Daphne.
The date doesn't seem to be an issue with Georgiana Principal Keith York, but the time does.
"I don't like the fact that we would have to play that late on a school night, and then our kids come back and go to school the next day," York said.
So right now York says the game time for Georgiana's game with Bayside is too be determined.
Georgiana coach Greg Ennis is just as unhappy about the situation as York.
"I think it's pretty ridiculous to ask a high school team to play three games in seven days," he said.
As it stands, the Panthers will play host to McKenzie this Friday night. Then they would travel to Daphne on Monday before hosting Class 2A No. 1 Leroy in another key region game.
"We asked if we could play (Bayside) on Sunday and move the Leroy game back a day to Saturday, but neither school has budged," Ennis said.
A Sunday game has not been ruled out, but Ennis said that Leroy was emphatic about playing on Friday and not Saturday in Georgiana next week.
"Right now we're preparing to play (Bayside) on Sunday," Ennis said. "If we don't play on Sunday, then we'll play them on Monday."
The Friday after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, York said that he offered to have Bayside play in Georgiana either that Friday or Saturday. But due to the lack of charter buses and a fuel scare, Bayside declined.
"In a perfect world, we would have gotten that game played that Friday or Saturday, but we were not the only school affected by this," York said.
York said that the rescheduling of the Panthers' game with Bayside would be set in stone no later than Wednesday.
