A big part of any team sport is playing on the road. A bigger part is the feeling of playing in front of the home crowd.
For the YMCA Greenville Tigers, they have proven they can play on the road. Tonight, they get to show what they can do at home.
"We are so excited to have these little fellows playing at home," said Amanda Phillips, Executive Director of the Greenville YMCA.
Last weekend, the Tigers traveled to Fort Deposit and tamed the Red Devils.
It was the first time this season that all three YMCA teams from Greenville had swept their opponents.
The Mighty Mites (2-0) picked up the biggest win of the afternoon with a 44-18 pasting of their opponents. The Termites (2-0) also picked up a 34-8 victory.
The Pee-Wee's came off a loss in their last game to even their record at 1-1 with a 28-14 victory.
This week, the Evergreen Jaguars come to town looking to end the Tigers win streak.
Mighty Mites kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Saturday with the other two divisions to follow. The games will played at the new YMCA football field at the old Greenville Academy.
Due to Hurricane Ivan, the YMCA has had to adjust their schedule by moving everything back one week.
The playoffs are slated to begin on Nov. 6 with the Super Bowl scheduled for Nov. 13.
Admission to all games is $3 for adults and $1 for students through high school.
All football field facilities are smoke/alcohol free.
There will be no tolerance of profanity or unsportsmanlike behavior. No coolers are allowed into games except for football and cheerleader coaches.
