Florala squads remain undefeated

Friday night was a good night for the Florala Wildcats and their fans.
All three Florala High School basketball teams earned wins against their counterparts from Zion Chapel to remain perfect on the season with undefeated records.
The varsity boys topped Zion Chapel by a final score of 69-62.
The Wildcats fell behind the Rebels at the start of the game and trailed 24-15 after one quarter. In the second period, the Wildcats found their offense and attacked to knot the score at 39-39 going into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Wildcats took the lead and were on top 52-49 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Florala added to the lead for a 69-62 win. The Wildcats are now 5-0 on the season.
Tristan Matthews paced the Florala offense with 26 points. Xavier Jones added 11 points. A.J. Thompson had 9 points and Corderus Smiley hit for 7. Danny Wilson scored 6 points. Vance Gettis and Victor Hobdy added 3 points each. Rick Williams and Kaleb Scofield scored 2 points each.
The varsity girls' team from Florala did not fall behind on the road opening up a 9-2 lead in the first quarter en route to a lopsided 60-13 win. The Lady Wildcats are now 6-0 on the season.
Latoya Wilson had 18 points for Florala in the win. Alison Cobb added 14 points. Brittany Carson was also in double figures with 12 points. Liz Ferman added 10 points. Cynthia Campbell and Nikki Windham had 3 points each in the win.
The B-team Florala Wildcats also earned a road win against Zion Chapel.
The Wildcats fell behind 22-20 in the first half of the first game of the season.
The deficit, however, did not last long.
The B-team Wildcats regrouped at halftime and earned a 35-31 win.
Rodero Williams scored 19 points to lead the squad. Jonathan Carnley added 8 points. Kyle McCoy and DeAndr\u00E9 Lewis scored 4 points each.
The Wildcats host J.F. Shields today beginning with a B-team game at 4:30 p.m.
