Stingrays qualify for state meet

Andalusia's Gary Weaver served as the starter at the Alabama District 6 Championship Swim Meet on Thursday at Troy State University.
The Andalusia Stingrays finished third overall at the meet with 638 points. The Eufaula Waverunners came home in second with 666 points. The Dothan Dolphins won the meet with 799 points.
Several members of the Stingrays qualified for the upcoming Alabama State Championship Meet with top three finishes.
Emma Garner finished first in the 8-and-under 25-yard breaststroke to qualify for state with Meredith Grace Kerr in third. Kerr also qualified in the backstroke event. Garner also qualified in the butterfly event. Dalton Watson was third in the boys' freestyle to advance to state. Watson and Peek also qualified in the butterfly event.
Stinson Thompson and Luke Rider finished second and third in the 10-and-under breaststroke to advance to state.
Haley Moody was second in the 10-and-under 50-yard breaststroke to advance to state. Tom Cook and Jordan Theus were second and third in freestyle to advance. Theus also qualified in the backstroke event.
James Mo was third in the 12-and-under 50-yard breaststroke to qualify for state. He also qualified in the freestyle and butterfly events.
Addie Garner was second in the 12-and-under girls' 50-yard breaststroke. Becca Cory was third in the freestyle event to qualify for state. Cory also qualified in the backstroke event. Sara Beasley and Melissa Riley qualified for state in butterfly.
Sam Bass and Nav Tandon finished second and third in the 14-and-under breaststroke to advance to state. Tandon also qualified for the freestyle event. Tyler Moody qualified in the butterfly and freestyle events. John Christensen also qualified in the freestyle event.
Morgan Watson was third in the girls' 14-and-under breaststroke to qualify for state. Erin St. John finished second in the 14-and-under 100-yard individual medley to qualify for state. Lindsay Jones was third to qualify for state.
Lane Rider was third in the 18-and-under breaststroke event to qualify for state. Justin Moody was third in butterfly to advance to state.
The Stingrays also had 14 relay teams qualify for 12 relays events at the state meet.

Other members of the Stingrays also qualified based on their times at the district meet.
