Andalusia All-Stars win area

The 13-year-old Andalusia Babe Ruth All-Stars earned a ticket to the State Tournament in Huntsville with a 12-2 win in six innings against the Opp All-Stars in the title game of the area tournament Tuesday night.
Andalusia went on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning when Jeffery Etheridge reached on a fielder's choice. Taylor Culbreth followed him in the batting order and drew a two-out walk to put runners on first and second for James Hogg. Hogg came through for Andalusia with an RBI-single to plate Etheridge.
Opp, however, got out of the inning without any more damage.
Opp went on top 2-1 in the third inning when Jeb McDaniel and Garrett Kyser scored. Mark Linton had an RBI-single in the inning.
The Andalusia All-Stars reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third inning when Culbreth and Justin Ainsworth scored. They both scored on bases-loaded walks. David Dove drew the first bases-loaded walk to plate Culbreth. Tom Wright took ball four to force Ainsworth home with the go-ahead run.
Andalusia did not trail again.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Andalusia added four runs when Hogg, Ainsworth, Joe Kyser and Dove scored. Kyser had an RBI-single in the inning. Dove knocked in two runs. Another run scored when Nathan Shirey's grounder resulted in an error.
The score remained 7-2, until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Andalusia tacked on five more runs for a 12-2 win via the 10-run rule.
Ainsworth, Taylor Wrench, Dove, Shirey and Nick Cooper each scored in the sixth inning. Etheridge and Culbreth had RBI-singles in the frame.
Etheridge pitched a complete game allowing two runs on four hits and four walks. He struck out 11 in the game and pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the second inning.
BREWTON WINS 11-1
IN SIX INNINGS
The 14-year-old Covington County Babe Ruth All-Stars went on top early in the area championship game against the Brewton All-Stars in Opp Tuesday.
The Brewton All-Stars, however, used two big innings to earn an 11-1 win in six innings via the 10-run rule.
Covington County went on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning when Rhett Dewrell scored. He reached base on a walk and moved to second on an infield single by Kevin Meeks. Dewrell went to third when Dusty McDonnell legged out an infield single to load the bases.
Devin Maloy came up to bat for the Covington County All-Star with the bases loaded and one out. He was then hit by a pitch by Brewton starting pitcher Baxley Raines to earn a free pass to first base and force Dewrell home with the go-ahead run.
The score remained 1-0 until the Covington County offense scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Brewton added one run in the fifth for a 7-1 edge.
In the sixth inning, the Brewton All-Stars plated four more runs for an 11-1 win.
Raines was the winning pitcher. He allowed one run on five hits and one walk. He struck out seven.
Taylor Benton, Devin Maloy, Charlie Gordon and Dusty McDonnell each pitched for Covington County.
Brewton advances to the state tournament being held in Huntsville.
