The Bulldogs and Panthers square off in a best two-out-of-three series beginning Friday afternoon in third-round action of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Baseball Playoffs.
The Bulldogs enter the game fresh off a 3-1 win against the Holt Ironmen. The Bulldogs are 18-11 on the season.
The Elmore County Panthers are 20-8 on the season and advanced to the third round with a win against Tallassee last Saturday.
The first game between the Bulldogs and Panthers is set for 4 p.m. at the Andalusia High School Baseball Field. A second game will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
A third game is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, if necessary.
Andalusia Head Coach Ben Ramer said it is the time of year when all the little things add up and wind up making the difference in the game.
"We've got to make the plays," Ramer said. "We've got to throw strikes and make plays.
"We've gotten to the point where the team that makes the fewest mistakes wins," ramer added.
Playing a best two-out-of-three series rather than one game is a better format, Ramer said.
"We definately wanted to get to this point (of the playoffs)," Ramer said. "We feel like our chances are pretty good in this format."
Pitching depth is something Ramer said is an advantage for the Bulldogs.
"We feel like we have enough good arms," Ramer said. "You can have a bad game and still have a chance to come back and play well to stay in it."
