Opp Bobcats sweep Eagles

The Opp Bobcats defeated the Pleasant Home Eagles for the third time this season Thursday night and the Lady Bobcats finally topped the Lady Eagles.
In the varsity boys' game, the Bobcats roared out to an 18-9 lead in the first period only to watch the Eagles take flight in the second quarter.
Pleasant Home outscored Opp 15-8 in the second period to get within one basket of the Bobcats at the halftime intermission.
Emmanuel Lane kept the Bobcats on top going into the locker room with a jump shot over Pleasant Home's Nathaniel Blount as the buzzer sounded to end the first half. Lane's basket was good and gave Opp a 26-24 edge.
In the third period, the Bobcats stretched their lead out to seven points.
The Eagles once again rallied.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles soared back into the contest and tied the game up at 52-52 with 1:46 remaining in regulation when Author Coleman nailed a short jumper off the glass after driving to the hole.
Opp went back on top and held a two-point lead with six seconds showing on the clock. Pleasant Home called timeout and set up a final play. Timothy Wilson was the triggerman as the Eagles went for the win, but his three-point attempt was too strong as the Bobcats held on for a 56-54 win.
Lane paced Opp with 21 points in the win. Tyrell Hunter added 14 points and Alphonso Harris had 10 points for Opp. Daniel Coleman had six points and Holt Parker had five points in the win.
Author Coleman had 24 points to lead the Eagles and Christopher "Tank" Huckabaa added 11 points. Troy Turman had eight points. Daniel Clark had six points and Timothy Wilson ended the game with five points.
In the varsity girls' game, the Opp Lady Bobcats defeated Pleasant Home 50-42 to snap a three-game losing streak against the Lady Eagles.
Trinity Osborn had 15 points for Opp and Danielle Birge added 14. Ashley Mock scored 12 for Opp. Hayli Crittenden scored six points and Meredith Mikel had two points.
Britni Ballard had 14 points for Pleasant Home. Beth Cox added eight points. Amy Jacobs and Coty Cross had seven points each. Brittney Blount scored four points and Heather Little had two points.
Opp won the B-team game 34-24 with Rhett Barnes leading the way with 13 points.
