ABSOLUTELY!!!!! If that were allowed...it would be akin to putting the fox in the hen-house to guard the chickens.

A banker, a lawyer, a manufacturing manager or business owner can be in the legislature. Why not a state employee? Legislation favoring each group is voted on periodically. However, the state employee should receive pay for where he is working while in the legislature. If he isn't working his normal state job, he should not be paid for it.

Patrick, while I agree w/you on the basics, a lot of state jobs are appointed and when new admins come in, not all offices/mgmt/employees are looked at & some are left-overs from the former admin, then at some point they decide to run for office and (being garunteed by oppossing party) they are privy to info...doh, 'nuff said...Seth was in this process and was the 1st to vote against it...so, where do we draw the line? or where do we stop what we call double-dipping? There again is the question of voter's call on a vote for an amendment...oh, so much BS for something that could be so simple if we just forced our agenda on those that we elected. As has happened in this gambling crap, if we had just risen and forced a vote, then all might be resolved today...but, we went to MacDonalds, Burger King, Sonic, etc., and let cards fall as may...people...we are the people...and we let Riley/King/Tyson take over the air-waves and "dictate" how this would be handled...w/o our input into a personnel vendatta btw Riley and MacGregor...it has presented itself in the worst of light to the world...it is time to stop...let's force "FORCE" our electees to, as our Constitution states' to vote the way we, as a people, want them to vote...the way it was meant to be...now, back to the state workers being allowed to serve time as elected officals...no...they would have an opinion and an agenda...no.
