Wedding: Partlow and Chambers
Grace Bailey Partlow of Tuscaloosa and Andrew Porter Chambers of Andalusia were married Sat., Aug. 23, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa with the Rev. Dr. Charles M. Durham officiating the 6 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Cornelius Partlow III of Tuscaloosa. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lovic Pierce Hodnette Jr. and the late Major General Lovic Pierce Hodnette Jr. and Dr. Rufus Cornelius Partlow Jr. and the late Mrs. Theresa “Ditsy” Ford Partlow, all of Tuscaloosa.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Claude Leon Chambers of Andalusia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mark Chambers, Jr. of Brundidge and Mr. and Mrs. William Owen Porter, Jr. and the late Mrs. Patricia Boyd Porter of Troy.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless silk organza gown with French re-embroidered Alencon lace accentuated with an Alencon lace bolero jacket.
The bride was attended by Miss Ann Elizabeth Phelps of Tuscaloosa, a childhood friend, as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Melanie DeVore Busby, of Mobile, a sorority sister; Mrs. Casey Chambers Busby of Mobile, a sorority sister; Miss Virginia Lee Decker of Albertville, a sorority sister; Miss Rebekah Elizabeth Fitts, of Tuscaloosa, a childhood friend; Miss Frances Odessa Hale of Tuscaloosa, a childhood friend; Miss Anna Elizabeth Hildebrand of Chattanooga, Tenn., a college friend; Miss Laura Allison Lucas of Birmingham, a sorority sister; Miss Brittany Michelle Mayer of Alpharetta, Ga., a sorority sister; Miss Ellison Marie Shields of Tuscaloosa, a childhood friend, and Miss Elizabeth Arnold Skipper of Abbeville, a sorority sister.
The father of the groom served his son as best man.
Groomsmen were Mr. Gary Robert Baumgartner, Mr. Jay Patrick Bryant, Mr. William Mark Chambers (brother of the groom), Mr. Zachary Michael Couch and Mr. William Samuel Starr, Jr., all childhood friends from Andalusia; Mr. Kevin Cornelius Partlow of Tuscaloosa, brother of the bride; Mr. Morgan Tyler Busby of Mobile, a fraternity brother; Mr. Justin Thomas Riggin of Mobile, a fraternity brother; Mr. John Thomas Goodner Jr. of Auburn, a fraternity brother, and Mr. John Raymond Melton Jr. of Birmingham, a college friend.
Following a trip to Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Birmingham.
Wedding: Smith and Varner
Hayward and Shirley Smith of Rose Hill announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lori Ann Smith, to Ryan Keith Varner, son of Terry and Connie Pettis of Opp and O’Neal and Alene Varner of Brewton.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Faulkner University with a master’s degree in business. She is currently employed with Massey Automotive.
The prospective groom is employed with the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.
The wedding is set for Sat., Oct. 18, 2008, at 5 p.m. at Whippoorwill Ridge Cabin in Rose Hill.
Invitations will be sent, and all friends and family are invited to attend.
