Fire officials are investigating the cause of a late night fire in the Bellwood neighborhood.

Andalusia Fire Chief Russell McGlamory said fire fighters were called to 1115 Lenora Lane around 10:47 p.m., Wednesday to a home fire.

McGlamory said the home was vacant.

“There was extensive damage,” she said. “It was heavily involved in the rear of the home.”

McGlamory said firefighters finally cleared the scene just after 2 a.m., on Thursday.

He said 14 firefighters responded to the fire.

“The cause is undetermined,” he said.

On Thursday, there were rumors swirling that the fire may be arson.

“At this time, we have no thoughts one way or the other,” McGlamory said. “It is still under investigation.”

The state fire marshal’s office will also investigate the fire, he said.
