The Andalusia Police Department has identified the man found dead Tuesday afternoon as George Von Polson, 79.

Chief Paul Hudson said the Andalusia Fire Department found Polson’s body when they responded to a brush fire off Sixth Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Polson was reported missing by his caretaker earlier this month.

His body has been sent to Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of the death. The circumstances surrounding Mr. Polson’s death are being investigated. Further details will be released as soon as possible.
