Jewelry has literally been flying off the shelf at Christopher’s Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, co-owner Donna Lawrence said.

The store is located in the Covington Mall.

Lawrence said the hot seller right now during the holidays is all things Laffon.

“It’s a lab-created stone from a sapphire,” she said. “It gives you the look of a diamond for a lot less. We do phenomenal with it.

“Every day we sell some of the Laffon,” she said.

Last year, Laffon was such a hot seller that Lawrence said she had to get every item she sells in threes and fours.

“So, I overstocked them this year,” she said. “The diamond by the yard necklace, we sold about two-dozen of them last year.”

Additionally, Lawrence said beads are still popular.

“We carry chamilia and reflections,” she said.

For those Alabama and Auburn fans, the store has watches, necklaces and bracelets with their favorite school’s logo.

Christopher’s also has the shimmering diamonds or the heart beat diamonds.

When asked what people are mostly buying right now, other than Laffon, Lawrence said it’s wrist watches.

“This is going to be a watch year,” Lawrence said. “It’s funny — watches are like, one year, we sell out of them, then the next year we hardly sell any. It’s one year to the next and it usually skips a year.”

Christopher’s is open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is located within the Covington Mall.
